Sonic Mania is a retro through-back styled, 2D platform game made by SEGA. It is a single player (or two player, couch co-op) game made to look, and feel like a classic sonic game. The classic pixelated look combined with modern animation, audio and colouring, makes this game feel crisp, and lets this game shine like nothing in the 90's could. The rush of speed and the vibrant colours become a blur as you dash through the stages at breakneck speeds.
The game follows similar plots to older titles, such as sonic 1, 2 and 3. You must stop 'Dr Ivo Robotnik' or 'Dr Eggman' from kidnaping animals and keep him from using a mysterious Phantom Ruby for evil deeds! Keeping with the original sonic titles. There are two endings to the game, but you'll quickly learn how to unlock them. The good ending results in you playing a special final boss battle! In each stage there is an assortment of obstacles that range from springs, to robots (called Badniks) which want to stop you in your tracks! And everything between! The action never ends from flying past the stages or fighting off Eggman in the boss fights!
Sonic Mania is available for download on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. For about $30. However, if you want more there is a DLC/Plus edition which adds a new mode and extra character's.
