Stardew Valley is an RPG style game that is all about winding down and relaxing. It's pixelized SNES graphic style is a treat to the eyes, and its amazing soundtracks are a delight and never get old. The game was made by Eric Barone initially as a project to kick off his career in game creation and design. He has put so much detail into the game so that you can play this game for hours on end and still have so much to explore. For example, I have played 110 hours or more (yes I have no life) and still have yet to come close to 100% the game.
Eric based the game off of to of his favourites, which were Harvest Moon and Minecraft. He loved Harvest Moon but saw many areas of improvement so he implemented those into his game. Minecraft was his favourite game so he took elements from the game and appropriated them to his liking. It took him four years to be happy with it as he was always improving on the game spending at least 10 hours a day on it. He first released the game on Steam and in its two years it had had over 3.5 million downloads and was the most downloaded game an Nintendo Switch that year despite only being released on Switch in October. This game is very similar to Animal Crossing but in my opinion a much better, more deep and prettier game.
Its wide range of activities like farming, fishing and mining are such a delight and getting to know the towns folk is a beautiful personal touch. I love this game and its only $15 dollars on Switch, Xbox and PS4 and $17 on Steam. Overall for such a cheap price this game is 110% worth the deposit and I would highly recommend this to anyone. Personally when I heard of it I thought it was garbage then I gave it a go at a mate's house and instantly became obsessed it is one of if not my favourite game so far.
